Re: Henry Repeating Arms' H011- Original Henry Rifle 1860

my guess is that the bulk of the market will be CAS shooters, thus 44-40 is the right choice. Especially if black powder is going to be used. 45 LC would be the other choice for that market. However, Henry is attempting to build an authentic recreation. I can't find one or I would be test shooting ...

I've shot a few cylinders in my 6" Smith 686, though never targeted that distance. You know you're shooting a big load, and I think it would be a great bear deterrent. Shot many rounds at 100yds in the baby rolling block and, in fact, it's my favorite round to shoot, short of a 180gr .35 spitz...

My boy shot this 185 pounder with the Ranch Dog 265 gr. in a 44 Special case....very mild load of 2400. Recoil is pretty much nil, but he could shoot it well. Maybe 1100-1200 fps? I happily humped a pig for the first few years I was playing. I really (really, really) hated my A1 and learned to single-fire my 60 from the shoulder. Did I mention I HATED my A1? Never handled a SAW, but it's not in a proper caliber anyway. Play was my operative word as well. I only played at it....
