Right church wrong pew!
Actually this is my home made .17 case trimmer.
The threaded rod is drill rod, broken de capping pin centers the hand cut cutter head. This could work on any case, just need a pilot of correct dia.
Thankfully the 17 rem doesn't stretch much!

I'm thinking, which sometimes works, is yes your pen is plated AND has a lacquer finish. The lacquer is failing causing the discoloration.

Gold does not tarnish- EVER! Me thinks it might be brass or the gold plating has worn off. Greatest thing for polishing is FLITZ. works fast, very safe, even for food grade cutlery. It's available in squeeze tubes to quarts. FLITZ leaves no residue and helps fend off oxidation. After you get it poli...

Ah-ha! Great leg work JohnDe! I hope they bring you great accuracy & lots of meat( outside the condor zone ) !
I can remember seeing this style box years ago. Where, I couldn't tell you. Never knew the history on them. Since I don't have a 270 I didn't bother doing any research.

I too have been watching the reports on the WSM, I hadn't considered buying one just because the accuracy results aren't what I think they should be. But it's encouraging to hear that yours is getting better!

So I'm thinking about another Henry.
I have a Steel Big Boy in 41. A Ruger Carbine in 44 mag.
I need another 22(lr or mag) like a hole in the head.
Does anyone have a 357 ? How do you like it?

I would buy a Kimber, then either a Springfield or Ruger.
But I would suggest( as I do whenever someone asks me what to buy) have this fine young man go to an indoor range that rents guns, have him try as many 1911's as possible, then he can form his own opinion.
