Re: I’m starting to favor Italian guns

I have 2 3rd Gen Colt SAAs in 45 Colt. My preferred SD load is a Speer 200 HP (flying ashtray), pushed by 6.5 grains of TiteGroup for about 850fps from the 4-3/4" bbl. Only ever used on paper targets during qualifying, but expansion in wet phonebooks @ 50 feet was impressive.

Good conversation! My favorite Johnny Cash tune is about his 51, 52, 53... etc Cadillac! I built a VW bug that fit that description! Even had a couple Porsche parts thrown... but mine weren't pilfered from a factory, but haggled out of various junkyards!

My takeaway is that, yep... it's all fun & games until someone gets hurt. Pushing the envelope sometimes has dire consequences. Military grade weapons are not necessarily safe... as by gov't fiat, they're built by the low bidder!

No... I'm quite content with my sole Marlin, a 375. You are not floundering around with anything else? Cod you really be happy with only one? Nope, not floundering around... Re: Freund Sharps repair

One of the first admonishments I received when shooting my Sharps was to make sure I pulled the hammer back to at least half cock before opening the breech. Not doing so was the most common cause of breaking the firing pin. A simple step, but one easily overlooked.

I've had my Shiloh Sharps since 1987 and have only taken it apart once to clean out the breech block after firing many thousands of BP rounds... that has to be at least 10 or so years ago. It wasn't really to fix a problem... just thought it might be nice to do. Glad to hear you've got yours sorted ...
