Re: Browning 92 44mag - what's the going rate
Well, I don't have a pistol cartridge 92 at the moment... might as well get something that will go with my old flattop 44 and maybe my 44 specials if it'll cycle them. I liked Docs night scout setups. Might do something similiar with a pearson no drill mount. Already have an unused fastfire II and l...

Re: Browning 92 44mag - what's the going rate
Well, the bluing is close to perfect, the bore looks like a mirror, and the stocks look like the kids played cowboys and indians all summer with it. They're holding it for a week since it can't be sold for 30 days anyway. Since I'm more left eye dominant these days, thinking about mounting a fastfir...

Browning 92 44mag - what's the going rate
The local shop has one for 449. Outside has seen a lot of use but bore and action are still good.

Nice! I was shooting with my old readers on; my regular glasses are in the shop. With black hills ammo it's hitting about 4in high at 15ft. I'm rounding up dies and bullets before our Lt Gov. finds a way to register those.

Did anyone see my Officer's Model Match? Yes Sir! I like that Officer Model. I never had one, but had a S&W pre-war Model 1905 4th change target. Let Dad take that one home. The side plate over the slide serations was for folks who used the thumbs up grip instead of thumbs forward. Kept their g...

Yes Sir, closed toe holster for certain. Leaning toward an El Paso crossdraw in a Slim Jim or Threepersons. Also like the Dan Mayer version of the Threepersons just because it can be worn crossdraw or strongside.

Considering how scarce the 1st gens with these markings were I still wonder how someone found a takeoff barrel. The surprising thing is that rock island auctions showed another one like this that was a rebarrel. Makes me think the longer barrels weren't popular and we're pulled before they became va...

need belt holster recommendation for 7 1/2 inch colt
My local shop bought a colt this week and I happened to be there when the manager was showing it to someone. Thankfully that guy passed on it and it'll be coming home with me. Reading the hunting magazines at our smalltown barbershop led to the acquisition of an early LC Smith 12ga, a Fox Sterlingworth 16ga, a 257 roberts custom Winchester model 54, and a Winchester model 71 Short Rifle.

Win 71 carbine questions
Guys,
I've been digging through my older articles on the 71 and I can't find any reason that the carbine didn't sell, other than it just wasn't popular. Does anyone have any period information on why the longer barrels were so popular?
Thanks,
Terry

Re: opinions on std winchester 71 carbine
I spoke with the seller and let him know that the mods were not factory, including the sling mounts. It belonged to his father, inherited 30 years ago. I would think a fair price should have been around 2800, but I've got a lot of poor farmer heritage backing that opinion. Also agree on the changes ...

Guys, I've always heard that the winchester 71 carbine wasn't popular. That hasn't stopped an unreasonable itch for an original one though. Winchester 94 in 30wcf like my Dad's. I've got it now, but I have to say though that my 94 src in 25-35 is more fun. Didn't get a rifle of my own until I was married and in my 30's. Figure the M-14 doesn't count.

Local shop has used a example of each in pretty decent shape. However they're pricing the 95 src 30-06 @1700 and the 86 src @1650. What prices are you fellows seeing in your areas? Just seems high for browning/miroku.

I'm in the same boat, distance is fine but the front sight is extremely blurred without my reading glasses. Just recently discovered that if I center the darkest part of the fuzzy front sight on the target I shoot almost as well as with reading glasses. Guess point shooting is next.
