Re: How can you tell what REALLY kills your chickens...?
When I had headless chickens, it was usually possums. Check that there are no crawl unders anywhere, make sure your hot wire is working, but normal hot wire only works if the critter also has ground contact, that may be the problem, as they just climb over it. I don't believe a screech owl could do ...

That's pretty neat, but I think you will lose chopping leverage with only 8"blade.
You ever play with a genuine Kukri?
The Nepalese use them for the same tasks, and they have a lot more chopping ability, theres a size and pattern to fit pretty much any job.

I have just the blade of the bolo type, from the same era, WW2, and am at a loss to figure how to mount a handle. I've done a lot of reading on this subject, and a lot of seemingly qualified "experts" are recommending regular or reduced recoil #1 buck for self defense ammo. Better penetration compared to #4 and less over penetration then 00. #4 doesn't have the ummpf to penetrate heavy clothing reliab...

I switched to them when they came out and have tested them on hard packed paper medium and a lot of deer. They are accurate in my 2 30-30's and are more effective on game then when I used 170 Rem CL. Thanks for the responses, I think this is how I'm going to go. While I don't have a problem with a scope, it does make handling a bit more of a pain, and the current peep setup, which has worked perfectly over 30 years, is getting harder to "see", I don't know, something about getting old....
