The first thing I do with a gun like that Colt or 64 is shoot them.
Sometimes they turn out to be real shooters. If they do, you have the perfect setup. A quality gun that shoots good and you ain't afraid to use. I like to have a few like that around.

That's about right. All the loads I chrono from my 4" model 66 to my 20" Rossi make just about that same difference.
I shot some Winchester white box 125gr 38+P through my Rossi one time. They shot really well too.

Most people go with either the Leupold 2.5x FX2 IER or the Burris Scout 2.75x Many handgun scopes have too much eye relief. You need an intermediate eye relief scope. I have both the Leupold and Burris and like them both. The Burris is slightly more compact than the Leupold, and also has a focus adj...

Nothing beats the feel and shootability of the older Smiths.
When I graduated high school, my dad bought be a brand new 6" 629. I still treasure it.
Always wanted to pick up another in a 4". Either a 629 or Mountain Gun. With today's prices, I will probably never have one.

Love the Model 19 S&W< but it can't handle anymore than the Ruger, and probably a little less. The 19 was the reason S&W brought out the upgraded 586, so the 586 could feel like a 19, but handle everything the 27 and 28 could handle. I'd not shoot heavy loads in a 19, as you'll quickly disc...

If you only consider reliability, the AK mag is hands down winner. Where it falls short is it's weight and difficulty to carry do to its shape. Glock would be next on my list. The 5.56 is downright nasty on the ears. Inside or outside.
And I'd pass on it at 300yds too.
The .357 out of a carbine is a nasty piece of business at door yard (sorry....Maine terminology) ranges. Very little noise, very little recoil and very quick to handle and operate. All it needs is a light.

I don't know if its most used, but its handy.
I use a plated 158gr RN over 6.5gr. Unique in .357. This load is easy shooting but has enough to do something if need be. It clocks 950 from a 4" model 66, about 1k from a 5.5" 2nd Gen SAA, and 1350 from a 20" Rossi src.
