The early guns have the safety inside the trigger guard. I am not sure when the 16 was produced or if they had this feature. I did not like the safety, so I sold it.

Best of luck with the goats. I had and enjoyed them for many years. Neighbors dogs killed many of them, selecting the young as targets. I killed only one dog and never got paid for any of them. They are comical to watch and will provide many hours of entertainment.

I have taken deer with both. The 45 Colt was loaded with the LEE 250 and the the 357, Ranch Dog 190. I prefer the 45 Colt. My handload for the 45 was 9 grs Unique.

I should restate my question. I would estimate the number of 95s rollmarked 30 ARMY were few as the moniker did not stay for long. How many years were they marked 30 ARMY? Were they ever marked as 30-40?

I still have mine, '77 top eject. I traded a Remington .30-'06 Sportsman auto even up at a Corpus Christ gun show. I will not make the mistake of parting with it. I have taken several animals with it and it is as accurate as any levergun in my possession.

As a taxidermist, I have tanned several snake skins. The glycerin method will keep the skin supple. Antifreeze may give the skin a tainted color. There are several snake tan products offered by the supply houses. try Van Dykes Taxidermy supply, good people

I cast the LEE 452-255RF and they are good boolits. Modest velocities from my Marlin CB equate to good accuracy at 110 yards or so. I have tried WW and WW + Sn and they perform about the same. Mine drop at .453. ENJOY!!

I do not have one but I shot one with a forum member in California almost a year ago now. I recall shooting the RCBS 180 at distances of 300 yards with good results. Shorter distances were monotonous, the reason we shot at the longer distance. I would like to have a 99/30-30 as they are fine rifles....

Doc, My father, grandfather and 3 uncles were brickmasons. Dad always used fire brick when building fireplaces or BBQ pits. The floor and sides should be fire brick. Dad also kept the mortar joints EXTREMELY thin. He laid them edge up on sides, face down on the floors.

The 45 Colt is a fine unit. Consider it on par with the 44 mag for distance if you handload. I hunted with mine (24"er) this year and took 2 deer and a turkey. It has become one of my favorites. Mossberg for a Marlin?? No brainer.......I'd drop it like a hot rock!! You will be pleased.............

Marlin is your best place to inquire. Few PG 1894s were ever made so purchase or trade components are rare. The stockis the easy part. The lower tang and lever will be specific. Several folks at MarlinOwners are looking for the same.

Other than myself, I have never witnessed another hunting with a Winchester 94, 30-30. The Savage 99 is just about that rare as is the Model 70. Most of what I have seen are Remington bolt and automatics and Marlin leverguns. .30-'06 and 30-30 were the most common, .308 and 6mm were second.

I am interested in what you find out about bullet diameter on this one. I have just rec'd a 38-55 Marlin Factory conversion. I have yet to begin reloading for it. Most folks are having good accuracy with their 38-55 CBs and I hope we are as lucky.

I sold a Marlin to a feller in Hermosa Beach, CA. The transaction is like any other. FFL from the recipients receiver. When I do ship a gun, it is sent by FEDX. The last 2 I shipped out we $13. or so. Don't punish the folks in CA because of their idiots in (mis)representation.

I recenlty made good on that LEVERGUN pledge. I recently made a NILGAI hunt and was the only hunter (18) with a LVERGUN. I used my Guide Gun. I took a bull and a cow. This was the first game I have taken with the 45-70!!
