Re: Never a #3 !
I have had a #3 in 45/70 for awhile now, about 15 years or so. It is a great woods carbine. It has one advantage for me over the #1, the lever has a fairly stout detent to stop it from opening as opposed to the #1's lever release button which has been know to be bumped and drop the lever at the wors...

Thanks Pete, from what you describe it would be a Crescent with 22 inch round barrel. Value of a Savage 1899
A friend of mine has inherited some firearms. One of which is a 1899. It is in 30-30 and is a take down. Serial number puts it as a 1921 built rifle. It has pistol grip stock, running deer inleted on receiver , a Lyman receiver sight, a front bead that looks to be ivory, bore is wonderful, and rest ...

I have yet to manage messing up a Leupold , I have had a couple of mine for over 30 years and no problems yet, so I have no experience with their customer service. Swift customer service is great but the scope they replaced my old one with is no where near as nice a scope as the original.

215 grain plain base 7 grains of unique is nice mild load. Pop gun load is same bullet over I think is 5.7 grains of Trailboss. Same bullet over 8.5 grains of Unique will break both shoulders of a 200+ pound hog at 40 yards out of 6 inch model 57
