Wow! Highest I've gone so far with a Zero 158grn JSP bullet, Winchester .357mag brass, 18.0 grns of Lil'Gun with a SR primer is 2,005 fps also out of a 24" barrel. Now that's an easy load with low impact on my brass but I'd have to go compressed to fit more powder in the case. Edit to add: The ...

At 76, I feel recoil more than I use to as my muscles aren't as firm and arthritis is creeping into the mix in some places. However, recoil in a revolver is felt more than in a semi-auto because of 2 things different in their designs. 1st, the bore axis of the revolver is much higher vs a semi-auto'...

Thanks, but we don't have an issue with them and our garbage as it's inside the garage. However, we do have an issue with our built-in BBQ in the back yard on our walk-out rear deck. I don't see the big fuss with bear sightings. We have them in our front yard at least once every year.

This is last year when our neighbor accidentally left out his garbage can on the side of the garage. I took this from inside my living room.

I don't think we actually disagree. After talking to Steve I did get the .45 Colt Uberti rifle and later got a .45 Colt Uberti 'Yellowboy' carbine. I stick to standard pressure loads for both and think that absent wearing them out with ammo, they'll do just fine. My concern is with those who choose ...

Re: '73 '76 action strength

I don't think it matters if it's the total pressure or just partial pressure because if the percentage of thrust transferred to the action via the bolt is roughly the same on the various calibers, then it's a fact that the newer calibers are exerting a significantly higher thrust on the bolt and the...

Nath, consider what you just said. You said that the case expands to tightly grip the chamber walls. If that's true, and it is, then the base of the case can also stretch allowing the base of the case to thrust against the bolt face. All of us reloaders who reload necked rifle calibers know about th...

I love the '06 caliber and also heard that Howas are excellent rifles. If you reload, you've got a very versatile caliber there as you can load bullets from 110grn all the way up to 225grn with load data available on Hodgdon's site.
