Save those heavy loads for hunting or for when you need to punish yourself for being bad. Load 13 grains of Unique and any weight cast bullet for all day shooting fun. Still strong enough for going lengthwise through that imaginary buffalo.----------6

I would not concern myself with slugging a 30-30. They are all within specs. I must have slugged 2 dozen of them and they all came out at .308-.309. You scientific guys leave me scratching my head as its all over my head. I've loaded for a lot of cartridges that no info is available, especially back in the seventies to the nineties time period. Looks like a flaw in the brass. I have never seen that either. When thinking about it, How many millions of cases are made there just has to be one now and then that gets by the inspection process. I doubt that there was any damage done to the gun. Brass is trimmed short of the chambers neck length...
