Very nice find.

My 1895 .405s are of the Miroku made vintage and make darn good hunting rifles. No collector value though.

The side blast from the muzzle brake on my daughters Weatherby Mark V 7mm Wby Mag would blow dust and papers off two bench rests on either side of hers.
After getting the scope set right, we stayed away from the range and just hunted it.

Not lately - due to the rain and mud. I am supposed to drag a chain harrow over the horse poop in the pasture at least monthly, but it has been too muddy for four months. Looks like crap- literally! The darned rain also messed up two bird hunts ! However working on two hog hunts in the coming weeks....

However have you considered the Winchester or Browning 1895 in .405 WCF? FACTORY HORNADY 300 GRAIN BULLET AT 2225 FPS.
IT CAN BE HAND LOADED WITH BULLETS FROM 210 TO 400 GRAINS.

One of my best tricks is finding a left over cache of .458 DG ammo just before beginning to load replacements.
In this case it was 15 rounds of .45-90 ammo - enough to kill several bison, water buff, or Cape buff.

The ranch wildlife manager estimated this red deer cow/hind to weigh 300 pounds; almost as big as a cow elk. We have had many excellent meals from this beauty and still have a good deal of smoked sausage left. :)
