Hey, Tactical Lever! I just HAD to look up Fox Creek, Alberta. :D You're a ways up there, now aren't ya? I'm emailing you from Augusta, Maine. I like your weekly weather forecast, by the way. We're a little bit muggy right now. Target reacquisition IS easier with lighter loads and smaller calibers....

Good suggestions on pistols here from the other guys, but without knowing how he shoots and what he likes, I am not able to contribute much. About the pacemaker; can it be moved, as mentioned? And if having a rifle on the shoulder is a no-no, why not a hook stock? A lever action would be a perfect c...

7.62, not to quibble, but ISTR, for both hardball military rounds, the 9mm needs a distance to target of over 25 yards before it out penetrates the 45ACP. While I prefer greater distances in any contact with the enemy, for distances over 25 yards, make mine a rifle! I personally think that the diff...

Re: Army Wants A Harder Hitting Pistol

Someone jokingly suggested the 7.62x25. I don't think that's a bad idea at all. Normally, I fall on the "Elmer Keith" side of applied ballistics, but low speed ball leaves much to be desired. The high speed and a nice flat metplat would do a lot for the temporary and permanent wound cavity...

The Bearcat was offered briefly in .22 WMR. The gun was discontinued and recalled. I know that some fellows have rechambered Bearcats to 22WMR with no apparent problems, so I don't know what to think of that. It could just be Ruger being extra cautious or it could be something about the design of t...

Yes. This months Handloader magazine is an excellent one indeed, but I'm not in agreement with Brian Pearce's excessively heavy loads in the 32-20. Used it in 6.5x55, and the brass seems to be pretty good and as a bonus is already annealed. The overall quality of the loaded ammo seems decent. I thought the on the last deer I shot that a bullet might have been a little soft, but on the other hand I've never had a problem killing with it.

Since the mid-90s, at least, Uberti SA cylinders are nominally 1.675" diameter, compared to Colt's nominal 1.655" measurement.. That allows for a minimum 0.010" more steel between the chamber and the bottom of the bolt notch.. That may not sound like much, but it amounts to nearly 10...

Ok, I realize the steel is thicker, but its not that much thicker. The SAAMI pressures for the .45 are 14 000 psi, and the .44 mag are 36 000. Seems like quite a disparity given the couple hundredths of an inch difference in steel thickness. If we were to extrapolate making the assumptive jump that ...

The Ruger Bisley grip is very close to Elmer Kieth's no. 5 which is considered by many to be the perfect grip. When they first came out I remember that Ross Seyfried, (IPSC world champion and long time gun writer) said it was the perfect packing pistol, but then I think he used the 5.5" barrel...

I found a nice Ruger for sale, seems like a pretty good deal, almost $300 off suggested retail. Looks pretty nice, but I wouldn't mind a Redhawk, or a Blackhawk in stainless, with a slightly shorter barrel.
