That sounds like a great time! I'm quite partial to the old military singleshots, particularly Trapdoors, rolling blocks, and the little Martini cadet. If I wasnt on the opposite coast I'd be there. The CBA does a big bore military bench rest postal match but it's just not the same as being on the f...

The same situation has been playing out in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. While the college towns of Houghton and Marquette have always been a bit more pricey everything else has been dirt cheap in my neck of the woods since the copper mines shut for the last time after WWII. In 2007 my folks sold...

Thanks guys, we feel very lucky both to have gotten a place we like as well as not having to wait any longer. It was very frustrating bidding against people with city money looking for a second home outside whatever miserable overpopulated place they live.

My wife and I closed on a place in Surry today after a few months of looking and being outbid on 3 other places. It's a small house with modern systems and a new metal roof. It also has a heated workshop and attached lumber/boat storage area (some folks may call it 2 car garage with carport) and a 3...

We were shooting handgun silhouette up until 4 years ago at my old club in the UP but I was doing most of the work and since we moved it has fallen apart. We weren't IHMSA just did it on our own. We also did a short form of BPCR silhouette and military silhouette..

Somebody had a custom Single Six built in 38 Super, don't recall who built it, Alan Harton or maybe Andy Horvath? May have had a 5 shot cylinder too. My cousin showed me some photos of it on another site. Regardless, I found it super interesting as it's very potent for such a small package.

I've seen the 444 in a 45-70 before and Dad had a collection of wonky brass he collected at the range where people had fired the wrong cartridge in a rifle. Bummer about your firelapping kit but it is easy to make your own lapping bullets. Just get a couple of grits of lapping compound, smear a dab ...

Nice rifle and as others have said, beautiful country. I haven't messed around with CB since middle school. My friends and I scoured junkyards to cobble together a few working sets that we kept in our rooms for unmonitored communication. My mom was a really good sport about the 2x4 screwed to the window sill that held my antenna.

Neat to see more published data with heavyweights in 38 Special. When we ran pin matches at the club I used the Lyman 358627 which is a 215-220gr semiwadcutter designed for the 357 Maximum. It was pretty authoritative for a small borebut the 41 Mag or 44 Special were a much surer bet.

Agree, it must be thunderous. I had a 30 carbine Blackhawk, great shooting revolver especially with cast bullets but it just about made your ears bleed if you ever shot it in the field without plugs or muffs. This seems like more of the same.

Fully understand the sentiment. I generally use goex more in muzzleloaders and cap and ball sixguns, saving the Swiss for BPCR due to the lot to lot consistency. I have some Kik that seems ok and may take over the role of goex for my purposes (always assuming it remains available).
