Grizz, I'm with you on the 30-30 I love it too, everything about it! For hunting these mountains I honestly see it like Baby Bears Soup? "It's Just Right"! When you add up everything, packing, handling, accuracy of a rifle with iron sights, in which the cartridges range and iron sight ran...

I bought my first one in early 1986 in .357 and proceeded to slick it up as per the instructions I had been given at my local cowboy action shoot. "Fill the snot out of it with 'machine type lapping compound' and work the action several hundred times". Along with the admonishment to NOT us...

While I've loaded for the .44Magnum a few days before loading some .30-30s for my mdl 64A, I no longer have a 44 Mangl'em... so I count the .30-30 as my longest running cartridge I've loaded for... Since 1973. In that time, I've loaded a few of the 170s, but found that in my particular rifle the 150...

The rebirth of this thread has me itching to get back out to the range and fire some rounds out of my mdl 94, striving for a better outing than my last one. As I was reading it from the beginning, not bothering to look at the date of the OP, I was thinking of my answer... and SURPRISE! There it was,...

My Grandmother was born in 1874 and passed in July 1969 just days after Neil Armstrong walked on the Moon. I used to shoot some conicals out of my .36 caliber ASM 1851. I cast them out of a combination mold I got thru Dixie Gun Works. They weighed around 90 grain of pure PB. I used the same ~15 grains of 3F I used for RBs and a Wonder Wad. I got them to take down knock down targets in CAS. As more clubs ...

I gotta agree with TedH. It's been quite a few years since I've shot my 375 Marlin, but... It was capable of much better accuracy than I can produce. I replaced the 1970s era Weaver 4X with a 2019 Bushnell 1-4X and on 2 power was getting 1-¼" - 1-½" groups with the last of my Hornady 220gr...

Very good shooting! Somedays just seem to be better than others... As my mentor explained to me... the more you practice, the fewer "off days" happen! I had two friends in CAS that used .41 Rugers and a Marlin 1894 in .41 Mag. They loved them. Unfortunately, they left them in their car ove...

I have two manual RCBS trimmers, which if I have over dozen or so cases to trim, I chuck up my hand held drill and go to town. I started reloading because I could make ammo better than what was available in factory fodder. So the choice is much like Americans' choice of cars pre- Toyota, Datsun, Subaru, etc.? I wear a 1-¾" version of the Ranger belt (either a single heavy ply or a 2-ply) as a pants belt now and find it comfortable and as useful as I need today, with only an IWB holster & spare mag pouch. IMO...

The following is simply my opinion based on limited wear of the Ranger style belt. I used the Ranger style belt when in the local Sheriff's Posse, mainly because of it's more "western" appearance. The rest of our gear & tack was "western". Formal dress events, we added a smal...

Well, I'm going to overstamp it to a #3... Less confusing to me! Thanks. I don't like things that are not marked with the maker... Thanks... I have two RCBS #2s and at least 1 or more #3s, so this one doesn't need being the oddball out.
