Get the RCBS Cowboy dies. They are made specifically for cast lead bullets. They cost around $60 for the 3 die set. I have them for nearly all my levergun calibers and like them very much.

I'm glad to be able to help. It was a lucky coincidence I had those as they came with a MEC 600 JR .410 reloader I recently got off Ebay. I use an adjustable charge bar so did not need the powder bushings. Enjoy! :D

I would suggest annealing your cases. It works very well for me and I get much longer case life. There are several ways it can be accomplished without spending much money. I simply Googled "How to download Photobucket Albums" and all kinds of stuff shows up. Of course, none of the advice worked exactly as stated, but it was good enough that I was able to get it figured out. I don't know for sure what the heck I did, but it worked!

With help from Google searches I was able to download all my pictures from Photobucket to a folder on my computer. I then signed up on Imjur and uploaded the picture there. If my avatar pic is back, you will know I was successful. Photobucket can take a flying leap for all I care.

My oldest Lyman manual is from 1951 and it tops out at a 171 gr. cast lead bullet. I checked my RCBS Cast Bullet Manual and it shows a 187 gr. cast lead RCBS bullet number 30-180-FN. Load data for IMR 3031 shows 26.0 gr. for 1816 fps, or 28.0 gr. for 1972 fps.

I installed a Providence Tool Co. reproduction of the Lyman 21 on my Browning 1895 in .30-40 Krag. It is a very well made sight for the money. I have a Canadian Centennial that I use for NRA Lever Action Rifle Silhouette. I put a Marble's tang sight on it and smoothed up the action, and I also had to have the throat reamed a bit to shoot Lyman 311041 cast lead bullets. I've never had a problem with the lifter after several thousand rounds....

I lube all my cast lead bullets using RCBS lubrisizers. I have eight of them for different lubes and calibers.
