Re: 38-55 legendary Frontiersmen first shots

G'day guys and thanks for the input. :) Bartman, yeah I thought that it should be .379 but look at this link to see other peoples bore sizes: http://www.levergunscommunity.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10192 The Winchester factory 38-55 loads are .375'' that is why they are going in sideways at 100m. ...

Re: When you were a kid..........

My father had a couple of 94's (30-30s and .44s) but he sold them before I was even born. I kept bugging dad as a kid to buy some more and teach me to shoot but he never got around to it. So when I turned 18 I had enough and went out and got my shooters licence. Followed by my game licence for deer ...

Re: Lever Deer - 2! lotsa pics

Great story and pics. Shame about those ******* 'hunters', what goes around comes around.
I like the idea of the sled, it's a shame I can't use one where I hunt, it's just too bloody rough and steep.
Good work :)

Re: Wounded deer attacks hunter

I have heard stories of people getting impailed by antlers on sambar deer down here. This is why I wait a few minutes after it looks dead, then poke it in the eye with the muzzle of my rifle. Better to be safe rather then sorry :)

Re: Lets see you best(worse) hunting attire.

I hunt sambar deer down here in Victoria with a good mate of mine. I wear the German army flecker style uniform. It blends in really well with the Australian bush and is also cheap! I just returned from a hunting trip during my leave, on sunday on which my mate gave me a gortex flecker waterproof ja...

1894-1994 centennial price?

Gday fellas. I have been offered a NIB unlevered 1894-1994 centennial. It is the standard grade one. Just curious as to what they are going for over there because the price does seem expensive-$1500AUS. It is tempting though

Just boil it in a big pot. Make sure you dont burn the coronets of the antlers though. It will smell the house out a little but you get that with the big jobs! I did it with my sambar skull and it worked great. Looks even better after bleaching it.

Gday there everyone. I was a member of the old forum a few years back. Just thought I'd say hi. I am 23 and purchased my first rifle when I was 18. It was a model 94 Winchester XTR made in '79. I guess you could say I started off big hehe. Since then I have bought a 9422 and a Tikka T3 in 30.06. I s...
