That is one non descript looking 22 rifle. If I were to see it for sale somewhere, it probably wouldn't even get a second glance from me. It's certainly worthy of attention, but I would just think it was another old bolt action .22 rifle.

I bought this book about a year ago, Sixgun. It is excellent reference material. I did find a round that wasn't included though, but I can't remember what it was. I think it was the 416 Remington Magnum. It might have been 8mm Remington Magnum though.

I got one in nearly new condition in the box in 22 magnum this summer for $150.00. I just took it out and shot it some this evening. I'm starting to get the hang of it, and putting some rounds on target. It does take some getting used to with the skimpy little stocks.

I think in keeping with the short and handy theme that I should find a receiver sight for this one. I've never added a receiver sight to a Winchester bolt action before, so I don't really know what model or make of sight to look for. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Cooey Model 71 carbine

I bought this made in Canada, by Cooey/Winchester-Western bolt action yesterday. This one is chambered in 30-06, holds 4 or 5 rounds in the blind magazine, has an 18" bbl, and open sights. The rear is like the fold down rear on a Ruger 10/22. The wood stock is held to the receiver with 2 screws...

Prudhoe Bay is an 11 or 12 hour drive from Fairbanks, up the Dalton Highway. Coldfoot is the last place to buy gas or tires or vehicle repair until you get there. It's the end of the road, and there's nowhere else to go once you reach Deadhorse. Prudhoe Bay is also off limits to the general public, ...

Whenever I hear Sean Connery's name, I remember the line, "Remember Dunblane!", uttered to encourage the disarming of the law abiding gun owners of the U.K. I've enjoyed his work in the movies, particularly "The Untouchables," but I can't support that sentiment.
