I've got a S&W 60-9 .357 that I've tried various loads in, and the only Mag load I'll shoot in it is Win 110gr factory loads. Anything else is just way too much!

Do what I do, get yourself a section of brass brazing rod, mark the barrel with a lead pencil and tap until you're sighted in. Before I got the brass brazing rod I used to use the rim of a 30/30 DUMMY cartridge to drift the sight. Hope that helps. YMMV

No worries, samsi, but the Speer JFN is actually 46gr. What I did with the boxes of that stuff that I picked is 25gr of H335 in .223 cases that cycles my ARs pretty good, and stuffing in Win 22 mag dyna points that I pulled the bullets on and replaced with the 46gr JFNs since the original bullets we...

Not sure if you'll use it, but that same manual lists 25gr 2400 with the Sierra 150gr spitzer in .308W at 2,215. Might go good with 30/30 bullets instead of the spitzer. Might just try that load myself. Some 30 years ago I worked up a load of 26gr of SR 4759 with 30/30 150gr bullets that was ...

1992 Hercules manual lists 14.9gr 2400 with Speer 45gr Spitzer at 3,030fps. I don't want to go anywhere near that with the 45gr XTP type hollow point. Maybe 1500 to 2000 fps. It also lists 14gr 2400 with the 55gr FMJ at 2,685fps. Might try 12gr 2400 with the 45 grainer though. What's your thought on...

Let me guess, 8gr 2400? Already use 10gr 2400 with RCBS 58gr cast bullets in .223 that's some 2k fps. Ya came through again, Ray. BTW, also have some SR4759 if you have any suggestions on that powder.

I would hazard a guess that hunting feral cattle would be more akin to hunting cape buffalo. Then again, I might be wrong about that, never having hunted either. The most dangerous animal I've ever hunted was a raccoon!

Didn't read the whole article, but I find the same problem with current Winchester 30/30 cases. I've got some empty factory cases that extend long enough that I can load the RCBS 30-180-FN bullet without the gas check extending past the base of the neck. Once fired and resized, the lube groove above...

My problem was that when I was shooting the Win 5.56 ammo, I didn't recognize that there was a problem that the Mini wasn't cycling like it normally was and kept shooting until it broke, then had to go to fleabay to get another. Since then, been trying NOT to do it again!

Sixgun, it was a re-barrel! 17.5" bull barrel with 1/9 twist with a Choat night firing flash suppressor/front sight. Likely the company that did it took the 223 cal on the receiver to heart and chambered it JUST for that cartridge! Too late to do anything about it now, it was some 35 years ago,...
