Navy arms martini rifle

Just found this for sale a navy arms martini rifle in 45/70.I would love to add it to my collection though if I bought it I think I would shorten the barrel to 26 inches and possibly have the barrel turned half round to lighten the gun up for hunting

I know the 45 colt can have blow by when using black powder.It s kind of a mute point anyway as though I would like to have it ,it s just not in the cards for me to buy

Love the Sewer dept stories reminds me of some of my experiences where I worked.I retired a couple of years ago from working as a pump technician looking after the various sewage pumping stations in the city where I use to live.

Yes I do as well.I have four currently ,a Shiloh 1874 military in 45/70,C Sharps 1875 sporter in 45/70 and two Shiloh percussion Sharps a 63 sporter and a 59 carbine.I just ordered a crossno liner for the 45/70s so I can shoot some 22s in them

Couldn’t t you get a mould from www.ballmoulds.com over there in the UK .This use to be Jeff Tanners bullet mould company ,I think it’s run by his son now.A .715 round ball will do as well if you don t use a patch and use card and cushion wads instead

I ll be taking my Gallyon out this years muzzleloading deer season .Most shots taken at deer in my area are under 50yards so I m not handicapped shooting a smooth bore and the 69round ball can do quite a job on deer

I say go with the gallyon I have one and I think it will be a better choice than the first gun .I had to make up a new ramrod for mine as the previous owner misplaced the original.I use a 69cal mould for mine and plan on taking it out for deer this season

Muzzle loading guns has always been my first passion when it comes to guns.Recently I have been trying to resist temptation to purchase this 10 bore rifle by kavanaugh sold locally as it is a pretty pricy piece but would be cool to hunt with.To buy it I would have to sell a few guns off to pay for it

Yes they did but I like it with out the side gate as it has a nicer look.It means slower loading as you have to unscrew the mag tube and load but I think the traditional look is worth it

Personally if one is foraging for small game I don t think a gun having two shots puts you at any disadvantage but if your talking about playing Rambo or fighting the Zombie apocalypse then I might agree with you

The TPS version takes down like the Springfield version with the exception that is has a captured takedown pin so it can t be lost and both pieces separate. I have never had a problem with the trigger on these .The gun came with full chokes so before I shoot slugs I m going to have to get the cylind...

Just picked up a TPS M6 scout over /under 410 and have to say I am impressed with the quality .I chose the 410 version as I already have a nice Springfield m6 in 22/410 and wanted a 410 double for bunny hunting so this should fill the bill for that purpose.The only thing I d change is the rear sight...
