If it truly is a Rem 1901 (post 1898, i.e., not a relic) and barrel is not at least 16", I would do some serious investigation before I made a stock for that gun. Right now it is a pistol and legal. I don't no whether that would be the case with the stock.

348 in California is a tough road to travel as I'm sure you have found out. North Fork does list a 348 CPS (cup point solid). I have no experience with this bullet. Just pointing it out. I doubt that she walked very far with that load. Having hauled a few elk heads with cape, skull, and horns on I'd say you're looking at 150 up to near 200# depending how well the neck meat was cleaned off.
