Nope - especially since you are unloading it before getting into a vehicle or climbing over a fence. I'd much rather miss a shot at game then accidently put a round in me or a companion. Taking an extra second for safety is always worth it!

I have the 7.7 version. Late war production, so quality was pretty darn poor. It does have the chrysanthemum intact though. I've never had the opportunity to shot a 6.5. Interested to hear from you on how it works! :D

I must be just dumb lucky. The last gun my Dad gave me before he died was a Ruger 10/22. It's always been very accurate. I have several others, and all of them function great and plenty accurate enough to take pretty much any tree rat I see. :D
