Carrying While Doing The Morning Chores
IMG_5003.JPG IMG_5007.JPG I like to carry the Single Six that Gary Reeder shortened the barrel on when I am out in the morning. Loaded with HP ammo if I have a coon or a possum in the trap it settles them down quickly. The gun is easy to carry, out of the way and right at hand. I carry it in a Simp...

Not too long ago my brother-n-law took his own life and gave it back to God. He had been in severe pain for several years and it was getting worse. He had gone from 175 lbs. down to about 95 and could not do much of anything. He used his .22 pistol and did a clean job of it. No mess for the family. ...

Like Grizz, I approach rifles having shot, plinked, hunted and generally played with handguns much more than rifles. To this day if I am going hunting I reach for the handgun. When Paco gave me his octagon barreled Rossi .357 I was very grateful for the gift, but it felt like it had a lead anchor on...

I was shooting the H&R with some test loads and it locked up on me. I could not move the hammer forward or backward. Taking the gun apart I found the spring on the cylinder hand had broken and gotten into the lockworks. While messing with it I over-stressed the mainspring and the end broke off. ...

Re: Shorter Barreled Leverguns
Long before the Federal Government became dictators, Winchester produced the Model 92 with 12", 14" and 15" barrels in addition to the standard rifle and carbine lengths. The short barreled 92's are very rare. This one is well documented and went for almost $75,000.00 at auction. 1.JP...

Elmer maintained that "Super Blackhawk" was a poor name for the gun and that it should have been called the "Dragoon" which fit as far as I am concerned. For me the grip is much too large and too awkward. If I have any other single action grip than the Colt SAA/Ruger XR3 grip it ...

Jim, was there any lead spray at the forcing cone? .375" starting diameter certainly is significantly larger than the .359" recovered rounds. Granted, they weren't trucking along, and the soft lead helps, but I was curious. No. The balls are sized down in the cylinder throats before they ...

Shooting The Old H&R This Morning
I got to messing around with the old H&R this morning, wanting to shoot it. I had noticed weeks ago that the 9mm case is just a tad shorter than the .38 S&W case. I pushed a .375" diameter round ball on the end of a 9mm case and dropped it in the chamber. Lo and behold it was the exact ...

I would like to have 5 or 10 cartridges .... fired ones would be great. So far I can't find anything online. I can make cut-down .38 Specials but would like a few of the real thing.

I agree with Rockrat. You could restore that thing but it would take at least another cylinder and barrel. Perhaps more. I am not sure why anyone would drill a hole in a bolt stop?
