In your description I never saw mention of the bore condition? If it's got a good bore, I'd still make an offer on it. If the bore is questionable, then that would be the killer for me. Just too expensive to have it relined to make a good shooter.

I personally wouldn't leave anything I cared to lose in my truck while away for very long. Really doesn't matter if it's a rifle, camera, or whatever. First gun I wanted was a 1890 Winchester pump I saw at a local sporting goods store as a kid. The old gentleman at the gun counter let me hold it, although I was only about 13 yrs. old. If bought and sold through an FFL dealer, the whole thing is moot point. You are not "involved" in the business, as the dealer's FFL covers that. As long as you can involve a dealer, and still turn a profit, then it's your decision. There are things that bring up red flags though, and you ...

I also make .33 Win brass from .45-70, but don't own forming dies. I start by running annealed .45-70 brass into my .44-77 die set. Then run them into my .40-65 die, and finally into my .38-56 die, and then the .33 Win dies. This works great for me, and I've used the same system for decades.

Marlin offered cases for takedown models in their old catalogs. They were not made by Marlin, but like many items they were made by others and sold through Marlin. I have several that came with Marlin takedowns, and one is hand written inside the flap "1893 Marlin .25-26".

I don't know much about Win. rifling, but Ballard style rifling was pretty deep on the 1893 Marlin in .38-55 or .32-40. Not all Ballard style rifling was as deep though. The 1894 Marlins in .44-40 seemed to be similar, but shallower.

No, they aren't strong enough for CF cartridge, and $175 is too much for one that's original, let alone one that's been reworked. When I see decent originals at local shows they usually have price tags of around $150 on them.
