Interesting question that never occurred to me. Most of my rifles are Winchesters starting back when a teenager, so I never question any of them .
All I know is that if I load my 1895 .405 magazine properly, all goes well, otherwise it can jam.

What Vance said + !.
Last week it was a TX Rat snake in a nest with an egg in its belly. One .357 rat shot to the head solved that.
All snakes are on notice inside my yard and I have been known to mow over them out in the pasture.

Re: hi, newbie with 50-100 ?
My 1886 45-90 TD was one of 500 (or 501) made for Davidsons and they all had the crescent butt plate. At 9.5 pounds unloaded, it is not light, but the weight soaks up a lot of the recoil. Mounted properly, with the lower point of the butt plate in the arm pit, the recoil causes the rifle to rotate u...

Re: hi, newbie with 50-100 ?
Welcome aboard Montana 22. WRT your project options, here is food for thought. 1.A Miroku/Winchester 1886 extra light in .45-90. My Miroku 1886 .45-90 with 26 inch octagon barrel would be too large but it does chamber and fire 500 grain Cowboy Action ammo with long nosed bullets, BUT that bullet is ...

Even shot through the heart with a .338 Win Mag, a wildebeest can run 100 yards. They do eventually run out of gas.

Why all the interest in the 32-20 pistol cartridge?
I somehow passed through my avid handgun collecting and shooting phase without ever seeing or shooting a 32-20. ????
I just settled on .357 mag and 44 mag revolvers and matching rifles, and 9mm for auto.
