Yeah, disasters are more likely around here, with whatever thuggery is part of the deal... The Napa earthquake isn't that far from Sacramento, and we have Folsom Dam. Other upstream dams could cause havoc as well. Our rivers used to flood every winter, until the levees were built and then made bette...

I can't argue against your Marlin in 357Magnum. The 180gr cast at 1800fps still beats some of the original 190gr 30-30 loads (which seem to work on black bears). I'm more interested in which knives our friend is taking along. A good knife is used more often and makes life much more comforting out in...

Re: OT: S&W 586 Question.
A while back some company sold a weight you could attach, but I don't know how it was attached. S&W does make the 8 shot 357 N frames with rails above & below the barrel. Eight rounds of 357Magnum should work as well as 8 rounds of 45ACP. Railed wheelguns are ugly (IMHO), but if it works the...

That G30SF, and the regular G30 version, both have good reputations for accuracy; some even say noticably better than the Glock 40's.
The G30 I carried for a while gave about 845 FPS with PMC ball ammo. Not bad for a short barrel.
45ACP is still a good round, and that's a good pistol. Congrats.

When Glocks, S&W, Sig, Beretta, and H&K were approved, and Glocks later mandated, we issued Winchester's 127+P+ for the 9X19's. Then, when that round was difficult to find (using the procedure we have to use), we switched to Fed Tactical HST. When we stopped authorizing 9mm as a primary gun ...
