It’s definitely insert. That’s the first thing I wanted to make sure of myself so I tapped on it with a hammer to see if it sounded hollow... Just kidding. The fuse unscrews and the shell was emptied out years ago. The fuse is just a cap with nothing other than the shell. The fuse must have been an ...

Any WWI artillery shell experts here?
I was shown what I suspect is an inert WWI, possibly British, artillery shell that I’m stumped in identifying. A friend has had it for years and recently showed it to me. What’s unusual is it’s marked as a 70m/m which is smaller than the very common 75mm projectiles. Searching the internet shows the...

Shrapnel, You will need to do an awful lot of hunting this fall if you intend to shoot something with all the new guns you've been acquiring. Very nice Sharps. Thanks Shrapnel. Do the damascus barrels on your Colt's have any foreign proofs on the flats? I presume the barrels must have been imported as raw blanks by Colt. They likely don't have foreign proofs but I've never thought much on the Colt doubles nor ever seen one in person. There were certainly b...

That's a very nice display Shrapnel. A question on the Colt shotgun. Do you know if Colt's actually manufactured those themselves or imported them from Europe. Not cowardly at all- smart. I've done the same thing myself for the inaugural shot through older guns. 351PD has an extra heavy mainspring from the factory for reliable DA ignition of 22 mag ammo which has thicker brass cases than standard 22lr. The price you pay for the reliable ignition in a J frame is heavy DA pull. You could swap out the mainspring for a standard J spring but you’d have to verify...
