I've enjoyed working with it and I have noticed that the Ruger BH is much more accurate than the semi autos. I've thought about rechambering a cylinder for the 38-40 since I have an 1892 in that caliber.

If you think the vacuum wipers were a pain the diesel trucks 40 years ago had air wipers that worked OK until the compressor started pumping oil. The o-rings would swell up and the wipers quit working.

I had a Steven 311 12 gauge blow up when I was 16 years old. A piece of the barrel/chamber went through my left forearm and exited at the wrist. I almost bled to death. This fellow was very lucky.

I had one in 307 and I just looked at the 1984 Winchester catalog which shows the rear sight is a folding type like Ruger uses on the 10-22. The front sight is taller than the 30-30 rifle and does not use the hood.

I have a SS with both cylinders and recently bought a Single Ten in long rifle and tried the magnum cylinder in the ST and it works great. I tried the ST cylinder in the SS and it wouldn't index properly.

The trigger pull is pretty stiff on both of my rifles, .223 & .308, this however can be adjusted by screwing out the caged hammer spring. The hammers are very narrow which leads me to believe that it's quite possible to have it slip and travel forward which is no problem if trigger is not depres...

I have a 94 Trapper in 357 magnum and the action is not capable of handling cartridges that are longer than factory length. I can only assume the 94 in 44-40 is the same.

I have some Winchester 209 primers from the mid 70's that have domed primer cups and later ones are flat. Quite possibly that punches wore out and were replaced with new ones that were flat.

I have a 760 from 53 in 30-06 and the magazine has several differences than the 742 magazine.

Both sides are smooth and the rear is straight across from the where the rim of the cartridge is compared to the 742.

I don't have a camera so I can't post a picture.

I made the mistake of resting the recoil pad against my thigh and shooting a 510 grain, ouch. My biggest problem was I couldn't find a front sight blade that was regulated for the 300 grain Hornady bullets. I ended up putting a scope on it but it was too heavy to carry deer hunting.

35 years ago I had Ruger #1 in .458 and the recoil was pretty bad when you fired 500 grain bullets through it. I usually fired 300 grains and it was much more pleasant to shoot.
You might not feel the recoil if you being attacked by a water buffalo but it would be hard to pump fast.

First box according to the lot number is 11/28/85 are you sure the "W" is a "W" ?

Red box is 1/20/75.

They started the Horse and Rider logo in 1983 so the box from 85 is probably old stock being used up.

All of the ammunition manufacturers need to do the same as Hornady. I also will be using more of Hornady's products.
