Interesting question 86er raised - he is not a Troll. It did elicit a lot of views, opinions and info. And it is probably very useful and interesting for a professional hunter to know what shooters and hunters think. I recall a year of so ago some fellows went down from the midwest and had no idea t...

I LIKE scopes. All that is necessary to understand it is that different people have different likes. Women, scotch, etc. Guns do not need anything, guns do not have needs - once we get past that little jewel. We can see that it is people who have needs wants and likes and that makes it up to the ind...

Button mags look very good and hence the 3 shot group as the standard for hunting accuracy.

The quality of the pics perfectly compliment the impression this great old gun gives in looking at it. You may try it on higher quality with a better camera but I wager something will be lost and something will be gained. I like these. Takes me back to country that is not here.

Re: Std vs. Mag primers in 30-30 plus flyer
I have one 30-30, a 20" carbine, that has the front band and mag tube a little loose so that it moves a bit with twisting. But, it shoots either Win or Fed 170s in less than an inch for 3 shots. The problem here is that you're using 5 shot groups :). Use three shot groups and all is great - it ...

Yes Joe, this example seems excellent in all the ways I look at it. Ruger has been uneven in this respect over time.
I measured some Win 22 LR and Mags and the what I could measure of the bullet by the rim they both measure .2235" to .224".

I measured all the cylinder chambers in the LR cylinder in two aspects 90 degrees to each other and found them to be consistent at .225 and none seemed to be out of round. This is a recent manufacture convertible blued with 6.5 in barrel - seems to be quite accurate with mags and less so with LRs bu...

Great shooting - looks like you put one in each of the gray squares then ran four in the middle to fire for effect. What is that about 3" for 4 at 400 and three are in less than 2" that is phenomenal.
