If you look at the numbers, a Ruger Mini-14 is only a couple percentage points longer, heavier, etc. It also fires a much more enthusiastic round. Apologies for sounding snippy, but we already have that, or 2/3 of it.

M-1 carbine (ignoring the engineering/operation differences) in 5.56 is the Ruger Mini-14. 7.62x39 is the Mini-30

Ruger's XGI project failed though.

I had no illusions that we were sitting on a pot of paper gold here.

Her mom was a product of the depression and had saved/accumulated/hoarded *a lot* of odds n' ends.

I'm thinking I'll have her just deposit most of them, and maybe save the $2 for the grandkids

Hatchets are nice for general light work, knocking up kindling, etc.

Ontario Knife Company 18" machete for general brush. This is a *great* machete, the military issue one.

Anything heavier, look for Condor Knife and Tool parang. They make a couple, all excellent.

Duct tape after awhile will leave a messy adhesive residue that you will *never* get off.

Grab yourself a small chunk of 1" x 1" wood.

Engineering to do this is pretty easy, couple more commands on the CNC machine milling out the receivers.

I have a suspicion the Ruger buy-out of Marlin may be a factor in this.
