Re: Stolen firearms
Likely stolen by someone who didn't know what they stole, sold to someone who didn't care they were stolen or know what they were, then resold again to someone who didn't know what they were either. Probably someone's hunting rifle, standing in a closet somewhere.

I've punched out two .45-70's to .45-90. Unless you're shooting black powder, there's no point to it.
In the long run, I regretted both of them.

The previous 5-shot, 1000-yard IBS record is 1.397″ (50 score) by Tom Sarver in 2007. (The NBRSA 1000-Yard 5-shot LG record is 1.473″ by Bill Schrader in 2002.)

The bolt carrier on those is truncated and has a "tail" like a Benelli shotgun. It uses a small tube and spring in the stock. The rifle design has been out for a few years marketed towards ban states. From what I gather the triggers leave a lot to be desired. ETA: https://photos.imageevent...

The 303 British started out as a BP cartridges. Though you'd probably still get a ticket and have to fight that one later.
I had a .40-65 in a heavy barreled rolling block and really liked the round. I'd like to have something more handy in that cartridge.

I had a 45 colt 94AE with a H-U-G-E chamber. But the only thing it shot worth a darn were 300gr JHP's pushed with a charge of W296 that I would never repeat in public. The brass held up just fine, large as it was. (of course the huge chamber probably helped with pressures as well)

Prior to S&W gobbling up T/C , you could send your lock back to them for replacement/retro fit. I had it done with a Pennsylvania Hunter I bought used somewhere 2009-2010. I'm assuming that's no longer possible since sadly they don't make any "traditional" rifles anymore, but it couldn...
