As nentioned above, the "Last" is the foundation of the boot, it determines the height, width & positioning of the arch; this determins how well the boot feels during a long day of wear, even if all the other terms of fit are met. There really isn't any way to tell if a particular boot...

As I recall, Stevens bought the earlier Riverside Arms Co of Chicopee Falls, MA and continued their side by side double as the Model 311. My 1919 Riverside is serial numbered, but... it is located on the flat of the receiver below the barrels. I believe the Stevens are also.

I don't have any personal experience with Pietta's but in talking with Boyd Davis (owner of EMF) a few months ago he rated the Pietta's as possibly the finest Colt clones of any model that he's dealt with in his many years importing clones. He did say they tended to run a bit smaller than the origin...

Puh yer stock up tight against the receiver & tighten that stock screw. Make sure you use a hollow ground driver that fits. Lastly get some good tung oil in the wood to bring the moisture back up, sounds like she be a mite dry. Don't oil the inside where the wood where it contacts the tang.
