You are talking a 357 Mag rifle right? Being a Texas, I think pistols first. Bear in mind that when fired in a rifle (vis-a-vi a pistol) you will pick up an extra 100 to 400 fps depending on the powder and charge. There are several local automated "Tortillarias" around here, a couple quite large. The biggest one is the "Disco de Oro" (disc of gold). For the price, you can't make them by hand any cheaper. There is only one cafe I know of that makes their own.

I live hard against the Texas/Mexico border and nobody makes tortillas down here, it just isn't worth the effort. Of course there are scads of tortilla makers here and you can buy fresh warm ones in any convenience store.

A few years back Paco Kelly pulled the bullets from some of the first year production 357 Magnum ammo and found a charge of 2400 powder.
I started loading the 357 Magnum round 50 years ago and 2400 was the standard powder. I continue to load the round with 2400 and see no reason to change.

I misplaced a loaded 1911 mag in 1964 and found it again in 1991. I put it in a pistol and all seven round loaded and fired without incident. I still have and use the mag.

Back in the early 70's Winchester made a run of 64s. They featured all of the roughness of the period. Your rifle is one of those. They sell for considerably less than the pre-64 models.
I had one of those later 64s and it shoot good enough, but I could never develop a fondness for it.

In my part of the world, fitting a pre-chambered, threaded and contoured barrel runs about $150.00. If the barrel needs to chambered, threaded, and contoured, the price will be at least double. There is quite a bit of machine work involved.
