Re: .36 Caliber Revolver - New shooter questions

yes you need a T handle nipple wrench and some new nipples. Slix Shot from Track of the Wolf. you can try filing your nipples shorter to get them to a larger part of the taper so your caps will fit. Chain fires can occur from loose caps. Watch Duelist 1954's videos on youtube. He's got a bunch but l...

Would you mind giving us the serial number? Just X out the last two for privacy if you want. I notice it is not a black powder frame and +++s for keeping the original grips. Having a Colt SAA "restored" is a killer to the price though. But any old Colt is interesting and should bring a lit...

It's a Kirst. They make several different ones so you have to look at their web site for which type and for which reproduction. Mine's a Pietta which I paid $90 for. I thought the kit was kinda pricey at $325 plus another $150 for the ejector assy. Installation is a cinch if you have a mill and they...

Look up and watch some videos of SASS shooters running their 73s during a match. Top competitors use 38/357 but they are just so much smoother than 92s the caliber doesn't matter. Just remember that black powder MUST be compressed! If you want reduced loads they must have a filler of some kind. I usually use paper wads from Circle Fly or Walters Wads. I have fellow shooters who use Cream O Wheat.

+1 to Ray's suggestion to use Ballistol mixed with water (10:1) for cleaning. After 3 or 4 times you will notice it gets easier to clean. The metal gets "seasoned" with the Ballistol. I started shooting C & B in '52? Yeah, we used lard to lube with. You need the lube to lube the barrel...
