Re: Hornady XTP velocity performance

When I was working up 41 mag loads for deer I contacted them about higher velocities/ concerned the bullets would 'blow up' . Hornady and Speer said the 1800 fps I as getting was too fast. Nosler said yeah good to go. I loaded my hunting Ammo with Nosler 210s. Now I know that a load starting at 180...

Re: Keyhole and "Bent" bullet? Need help ....Update!

UPDATE : SIL took it to a respected gunsmith here in town. Free floated barrel is touching. HEAVY copper fouling in half or so of the barrel. The barrel has some pits and apparently is ruff (SIL didn't understand exactly) so I'm guessing the gunsmith intends to lap the barrel. SIL told of some guy -...

Re: Keyhole and "Bent" bullet? Need Help

This has me thinking! Ask if the caliber is stamped on the barrel. We know the .244 and 6 mm Remington are the same except for the twist rate! The 244 was a varmint cartridge and the 6was a big game rifle. Still doesn't explain 1 bullet being that screwed up... Hmm, did he maybe flinch hitting the ...

Son-in-law called me with something I have never seen before.Subject rifle is a custom built 6mm Remington, glass bedded Enfield action his dad had built for him for graduation. Keep in mind I have never seen this rifle so I am trying to troubleshoot over the phone. Outside of spraying bullets all o...

Doorbell Security Camera ??

No problems yet but looking for a Doorbell camera. A limited search so far has me leaning towards a Simplisafe https://simplisafe.com/video-doorbell-pro . I like the modular aspect if I was also to expand (likely) to a Simplisafe full system. Pros , cons, opinions ? And yes, plan B (1911) might embr...

Windshield Wiper Groups

The subject under discussion is a Ruger Mark II 30-06 rifle. Ammo is Barnes 180 TTSX. 200 yard shots go alternately to ten o'clock then 2 o'clock, ten then two back and forth like a windshield wiper action. The groups at ten and two are tight enough -for 200 yards- but this action has me baffled. If...

Re: Anyone Taking TUMERIC as a Daily Supplement?

I'm a big fan but quit taking Tumeric as it thins my blood too much (daily aspirin the same) contributing to trouble with nose bleeds. Thin linings in my nose of course the main problem any blood thinners compounding the issue. Least that's what I've been told. Correct me if I'm wrong Doc.

I have read, but cannot prove, that the black powder loads for WWII Battleships were used during the first Gulf War..... As I recall reading, the main charge is smokeless but not cordite. The large, multi perforated grains are difficult to get going, so a charge of BP is what the primer first light...
