I really like the 71 and the .348 is known to hammer game animals. I have a well used short tang Winchester rifle and a Browning reproduction carbine. But I do NOT like the Marlin-esque fat forearm of these rifles.

I dont know about that particular finish but there are a lot of new finishes these days that really cut down on the need for lube. I broke the head off a 36" breaker bar back when I worked in the weld shop. I was trying to take the nuts off the turret on an excavator. Of course I had a 10' cheater pipe on it at the time... Ended up cutting off most of those nuts with a torch.

I know the coil springs offer a lot of advantage but the simplicity of good ol' lead springs on the YJ appeals to me. I like to tinker with things but being a former welder I just don't trust others welding on important parts like the frame. No way to tell if it was done right unless you cut it apart.
