Should I have bought this '94?

Was at the Grand National gun show in Tulsa over the weekend. Got offered a '94 Winchester in 30 WCF with a 26" octagon barrel, crescent butt and it was a take-down. Pretty rough but hadn't been over cleaned. $500 asking price. Should I have bought it? Unknown on the bore condition but it was a...

I love the .41 Mag. Have had several but my favorite was the S&W model 58. Carried one of those for many years as a part time leo. Always noticed that the 41s shot much flatter than the 44. I liked the 190 grain HP over more 296 than I want to say out loud. I too had the 94 Marlin in 41 but then...

I had a 99 in 250 that had the 1:14 twist. Super accurate with 87 grain bullets but I would have liked to be able to use 100 grain but got about a 5" group with them. The later 1:10 twist is a much better solution. It allows the use of 117 grain bullets.

Just so you'll know, it is OK to replace or fix broken or worn parts but any changes to the finish/patina of an antique firearm will definitely lower its value. MacEntyre, Before you buy a 92, try the heft of a 73 carbine. That is unless you just have to load those heavy loads for ???? Much smoother action, you can put in a short stroke kit, aluminum lifter etc. and the 73 after a slick up is just untouchable by the 92s. Now for me, the 73 short rifle with ...
