I replaced the worn down front sight on my original Winchester 1873 witha repro Lyman #21 fom Buffalo Arms:

Looks period correct - in fact it is the same as the one originally fitted, and works great with a Marbles tang sight.

Andrew, They are expensive but be thankful you don't live in the UK. The asking price there for a new stainless ROA is GBP 620, that's $1222 EACH! I was lucky enough to have two mint condition examples in store there with a buyer happy to pay GBP 800 for the pair.

I buy brass tubing from the local Ace Hardware, also the spring clips that allow the tube to slide up and down the wooden support. For the funnel I use a Lee powder funnel with a few turns of tape if necessary to make it a snug fit.

If it is a vintage black powder era 1886 it probably has the slow twist rifling intended to push a light bullet fast.Lyman 457191 and RCBS 45-300FN molds drop bullets at about 320grn in 20:1 alloy.
