I am still an AR fan but 5.56 is my least favorite cartridge (now that I don't people hunt) 6.5 Grendel, .458 Socom, 7.62x39, .350 Legend, 7.62x51 are more to my liking for the areas and targets I shoot at. I still carry and hunt with M1As, Steyer bolt guns, Remington pumps, Enfields, HKs, FNs, Mar...

Interesting gun! Who did the sights and the interchangeable cylinder? I've been thinking of a birdshead grip; how do you like it? It was a package deal back in the 90s with both cylinders and a friend (who left Van Comp and lives a few miles from the winter house) worked on it for me. I had him put...

Re: Lockback Pocket Knife
I bought a very light, liner-lock pocket knife at the outdoor market last summer. It looked to have decent steel and a very 'work friendly' checkered handle. It did have a little bend in the last 3/16" of the point but that's an easy fix. The blade was marked AUS8-II and 'Randall's Adventure T...

I like the lock blades or autos made out of the newer powdered steels for durability. They are very hard steel, hold an edge unbelievably well, and take great abuse. I would put them against any for reliability.

WOW, didn't know they made them in that barrel length. Would have saved my gunsmith time in cutting the barrel from 6 inches to 5 1/2, the 4 3/4 would have been perfect when he put S&W sights in it.

I think the closest thing we have to that is the current production Winchesters under the Browning umbrella. But those are made in Japan. Very good quality though if you don't find the tang safety too offensive. For US made, it's pretty much Henry and Marlin by Ruger for lever rifles. I don't see t...

Excellent. I had a game warden friend in the early 80s show me an uncovered dump full of rats. When things quieted down we would go there and shoot until the flashlight went dead. I went through 10,00 rds that year and became a great revolver (S&W Model 17 to match the Model 19 I carried) shot.
