Re: AR 'buffer types', 'port size' and crud-in-chambers...??

Since most ARs have a fixed gas port, the buffer weight and spring tension can help you to tune your rifle for optimum operating. If you have "too much gas" a heavier buffer or stronger spring can help to slow down the rearward retreat of the bolt carrier so that it doesn't try to yank you...

I really liked the A1 and I'd like to put together (or buy) a clone today. It's on my list. The A2 always struck me as a hog, but I didn't doubt that it was "better" in some respects.

Very fun stuff!

I've owned 1911 types many times, currently don't have one. I like them and yet I'm looking at something with a larger capacity and perhaps a DAO action. Ruger used to make .45s like this but with an 8 round mag. The hi-cap .45s do not fit my hands. I've not fired one, but I have held one and they ...

Only capacity. Well, these days you have options for high capacity .45 ACPs as well! There's the Para high cap ...

I don't consider the HP superior to the 92, though nicely set up examples can be. Out of the box though, Berettas tend to have better triggers than factory military HPs, though the HP fits most people a bit better. The 92 is much larger than a 15 round 9mm needs to be, the grip is too thick, the sl...

As stated, far too big/heavy. I like it! It's just not a scout rifle. And regarding Remington pump rifles, you can put quick detach mounts on them in the normal location and leave the iron sights alone. Forward mounted scopes are a serious compromise - no need to do that with the Remington. I do lik...
