That is true Scott. I have done it myself. Last one I shot I used my 1st Generation Colt with Lyman #454190 and a full load of black powder. I've never worried about carrying a single action sixgun. That is what I mostly shoot. I can run it without thinking about it. My preferred carry caliber is .45 ACP with .357 Magnum being the next preferred. These two are what I carry the absolute most. I have carried a 9mm at times and a .38 Special at other times. I never felt “under-armed” but I have to admit I felt better carrying the .357 or the .45 ACP. And I know int...

I use the good old Federal 1 3/4 ounce 10 gauge slug out of my SP-10 autoloader. I had it made in the Remington Custom Shop in the 80's. The flame cutting was a problem created by people who did not understand what was going on and how it worked. It was a self-limiting issue that could only go so far. It was due for the most part because too light of bullets (158 gr.) were being pushed with too much slow-burning powder. And because t...

I would say that it's not "sissy" but the wisdom of older age. Why beat yourself up if you can avoid it? That was not always my philosophy but has become so with age. And I wouldn't be as beat up as I am if I had adopted it earlier.

Reading some online gun articles it seems the Federal .30 Super Carry is THE BEST carry gun available now. In a small pistol it holds more rounds than a 9mm and is at least equal in stopping power.
