Re: Browning Model 53 - Update - Fixed
I have it back and its fixed.
Bubba didn't mess it up as bad as we thought. Installed trigger spring upside down. Flipped her over and seems to be working ok.
Will test and maybe get a picture or two this weekend.
thanks for all the help.

Re: Browning Model 53
I’m sure it can be de-bubba’d,but I wanted to give the dealer a chance to correct and/or pay for parts it if I was able to find replacement parts. There aren’t any local smiths here that can do good work except for one and he does it for a hobby. I’ve had one over there for over 2 years, not taking ...

Re: Browning Model 53 - Update
Update, Called Browning and all the numbers they suggested. No luck and I did discover that the Browning B-92's hammer and trigger is not interchangeable with the Browning M-53 according to Midwest Gun Works. So back to my LGS, he said he would make it right, he said he would talk to his browning re...

Re: Browning Model 53
Cute as it can be! Feels light and fast. No tang safety which is one of the reasons I got it. Not been happy with tang safety Mirokus, had a 45 Colt I sold, wouldn’t hit a pie plate at 50 yards. So far not impressed with the .357 I now have. Does about 3 inches at 50. 357 brass only, all Missouri co...

Browning Model 53 - Update - Fixed
Picked up cute little Model 53 at the LGS yesterday. No box or papers so considerably less than current offerings on the net. However I get home to try it out and discover that the safety notch isn’t working correctly. When I 1/2 cock it you can pull the trigger and drop the hammer. Haven’t had any ...

Re: Wyoming Elk Hunt - long post
Thanks guys! I wrote it to not only remember everything but also to explain to many of my friends and family what happens on a wilderness hunt. I have even had people accuse me of making up that our phones didn't work out there. They think you get out of the truck ride the horse 2 miles and pretend ...

Wyoming Elk Hunt - long post
This is my first try at writing anything. The first post was geared towards Facebook to update our families, the second was to record this special hunt. We were with John Winter at Two Ocean Pass Outfitters, I cannot recommend them highly enough. Elk Hunt 2016 Sightseeing before the Hunt: The last 3...

Re: Two Cylinder John Deere Tractors of the Levergunners
We call them Popping John's around here, my Grandad had one. Beautiful tractor, great job on the restoration. Last year I upgraded from 67 year old 9N Ford tractor to a "new" tractor that is only 29 years old! Power steering and brakes for the first time ever!

Re: What to do with a new "old" gun as far as maintenance?
There she is! Very light and handy, pictures added. It appears to me that the stock was refinished at some point, the forearm band, barrel band, and loading gate are deep blue/black so were replaced at some point. The marbles rear barrel sight is a fold down and appears a little newer than the rifle...

Re: What to do with a new "old" gun as far as maintenance?
My Dad didn't shoot it much, somebody did, barrel is very pitted but seems to group ok at 25yds. I will do some more range work with it. He had me take the Tang sight off of it, I put it back when I got it. Internals do not seem very worn, rifle is in fair condition cosmetically, but shows no excess...

What to do with a new "old" gun as far as maintenance?
Since my father's passing I have come into possession of an 1892 mfg. in 1894 in .38-40 as well as several other vintage rifles. He only fired a few boxes of factory ammo in it. I made my first .38-40's this week using new Starline brass and 6.5 gr of Unique. I want to enjoy these old rifles by shoo...

Do any of you use Paypal?
Hi all, I do not have a paypal account. I have been asked if I accept this. Pros/Cons. I have one or two more items to list but that looks like about all I have to sell. Is it worth it for these dozen or so items? I have been cleaning off the reloading bench and have several sights and dies that I d...

Re: Load for Miroku .45 colt
I suppose so, the myth of walking into the general store and getting a box of shells that worked in the rifle and the pistol may be just that. I will play with some other loads, my patience may be limited with that. I'm not the kind of guy that enjoys making 10 of this and 10 of that just to test, e...

Re: Load for Miroku .45 colt
I wonder how the 73's are doing, they are just becoming available and there is one at my LGS. Same twist as the 92? I have wanted a 92 in 45 colt since I was a teenager, I didn't realize until the internet some years later there never really was such a thing in the old west. I have finally got one t...

Re: Load for Miroku .45 colt
I slugged the rifle today, it has a 20 inch barrel and my caliper indicated .451, I am hoping this means I will be able to find a load that will work in the SAA & the rifle. Suggestions? 8.5 or 9 grains of Unique or should I try something else? I have Red Dot, W231 & tite group available, po...

Re: 45-70 loading questions
I finally got the nerve up to pound a piece of lead through my barrel. Using a caliper it slugged out at .456-.457. I know that is not the throat question, just doing homework. My Marlin GG also slugged out at .456-.457 which I understand may be unusual. I'm happy that they should like the same size...

Re: 45-70 loading questions
Did not run into any problems chambering today, maybe a better batch of brass. Rifle shot great, maybe more of a rainbow than I anticipated although I did change from smallest Marbles peep to the middle sized one mid session, I can't see targets clearly with small peep, targets look shaded. Need to ...

Load for Miroku .45 colt
I have just gotten a Winchester Miroku 1892 in .45 colt, it's one of the Oct barreled 1 of 500 editions if that matters. I load 8 grains of Unique behind a 250 gr rnfp. For my 7.5 in SAA. Cannot get a group with this rifle. At first thought it was my older eyes so replaced factory buckhorn with Skin...

45-70 loading questions
My manuals indicate the trim to length of 2.095. My brass (200 rds mixed Win & Rem)seems to run mostly from 2.085 to just under 2.095. Also I have noticed my 1886 Browning I have to squeeze then lever the last little bit to get most of them to chamber. I should have paid more attention to the sp...

Re: Lyman tang sight on Browning 1886
Thanks Shasta, I think I'll get a Marbles since I like the idea of the windage adjustment. I have ghost rings on a Guide Gun and a Skinner peep on a Marlin Cowboy so I like the concept. It's just this is the first tang sight for me and will take some getting used to the location. I just use it for p...

Lyman tang sight on Browning 1886
Taking a long weekend with the wife in Myrtle Beach SC. I decided to stop in a pawn shop in the middle of the outlet, tourist trap section and believe it or not. They had an 1886 of the 1986 vintage. I have been wanting one since 1986. There are a few dings & scratches in the wood, nothing too b...
