A few other folks have informed me that it is a M1863 converted to 50-70 and is now an M1868 with a Lawrence Priming System. More research will tell where and when it went into service.

Actually, I did some research and the mechanism is the “Lawrence Pelley Primer System”. A far superior system to the Maynard Tape System. And the Army bought a number of rifles for th3 Berdan Sharp Shooters with this system. Could this possibly be a Berdan Sharpshooter Rifle!

Took the two Savage rifles to the range yesterday. The #12 shot 3/8” groups with various loads. Put a Leupold 8-25 scope on it. Amazing accuracy . In Massachusetts you need to take a course that lasts at least 4 hours.....Apply to your local Chief of Police for an FID or LTC that can take months and cost $100.....Get photographed and finger printed......FBI background check.....wait more weeks.....finally receive the "license"..........

Drilling the barrel at 1/8" at a time takes a few hours......I do not have a pressure oil feed on the lathe so..Cut..Clean..Lube...Cut..repeat...176 times! Other than that making the new link took about an hour Chambering...30 minutes Setting the barrel...15 minutes cutting the extractor slot.....

Too bad it is on the crappy BigBoy chassis and not on the 22RF chassis. The Big Boy is a very clunky design and no where near as smooth as the RF rifles.

Maybe now that Marlin is back up and running supposedly better, we might see the 94 in a 327 Federal. Like the discontinued 32H&R Magnum.

I saw these $82 / $100 gift cards on Amazon also. I called Cabelas and was told you can use them as cash for guns, ammo, licences, etc.
