Interesting topic..... Being 63 years old, I've been through three or four periods in my life where folks started to be greatly concerned about bad times. I remember neighbors building bomb shelters in the 60s The race riots that followed burned down lots of inner cities. This was a WILD time in man...

I finally got a chance to really look this rifle over. I kinda bought it on a whim. It is MUCH better than I thought. The finger screw on the side releases the side plate for cleaning and inspection. Bad idea.....Wife is shopping at TJ Max and the Cabelas is right next door. I'll just go take a look in the gun library. A few weeks ago was at the same Cabelas and they had a refinished Marlin 92 in 32 Colt for $999. The refinish was extremely well done, but at $1K, just a bit much at this time. Al...

Re: It's not indefinite

IMO, it would be near impossible for a case to separate like that, especially an Ackley, if there wasn't headspace or the shoulder being pushed back during reloading. If the case fits the chamber properly there simply is no place for the brass to go. If that case was fired in a lever action of quest...

On second thought, if you do indeed have a headspace problem, the Ackley will exacerbate the issue as the nearly straight sides of the case will grip the chamber better as PO Ackley proved many years ago. Then the base of the case moves back against the breach...and you have a stretched case. I'd pu...
