You hit my hot spot now son, back in early 1954 I bought a Winchester 1892 32-20 24 inch round barrel rifle from my uncle that was made in 1917. Well I am kind of old and not real educated but I thought that a topic not marked OT and about LEVERGUNS would be all right to talk about so I'll say my oldest lever is a 92 32-20 from 1917. They go on up from 1941, 94 30wcf on to more 94 30-30's to an old Marlin .357 and a Interarms Rossi 92 .357

Thanks Scott,I know what that rifle can do. It does not feel quite like my grandson's .30 carbine. Real world shooting is a bit different ain't it.
I reckon that the old mountain men did not know their .54 Hawkens rifle were not suitable for the game they killed either.

I reckon if you mean that 410/.45 sixgun,that is a pure waste of material as far as I can see.I have a Colt SAA.45 and I make my own shot shells for it to use around the water for cottonmouths.

I have never shot a deer with my 45-70. I have killed deer with my .45 patched round ball(.451) Kentucky with 90 grains of fffg.Not one lived to tell the tale when they got home. By all means get you a 32-20.that is the best small and medium game round there is. Kirk can be a big help to you if you plan to reload.I have been shooting a Winchester 92 32-20 since 1954 and it is a joy to use with cast or jacketed bullets. the 85 grain XTP is a fine one for this round.

I bought my first levergun from an uncle in 1954,a Winchester 1892
32-20 24 inch round barrel made in 1917. I bought my second one in 1958
in a pawn shop in San Francisco on my way to Fort Ord.That was is a 1950 Winchester 94 in 30-30. Have owned a bunch of other since and still have several.

hartman,you done real good. That is as fine a rifle as you could want.I have an old Winchester 92 in 32-20 and finally got an old Rossi like yours from a friend.The rifle was a safe queen with ten rounds fired through it,not any more.You will more than likely use it more than any of the other rifles...
