There are "sling shot" type devices just for that purpose. Shoots small throw ball with line attached, then you can tie on whatever to it.

I used a Sako (old model with Bofors steel barrel) Forester bolt action.
Federal sierra game king 100gr. Dropped in his tracks, dead when I walked up to him. 181 yards.

I would use the 32 special on the Mule deer vanclew, but then I am a bit biased.

Yes, thought about the 308MX, have a BLR in 308, should have kept my old win 307. 243 did its job and wasn't worried about it. Shot the Federal load with sierra gameking bullet, went through both front shoulders at 181 yards. Dropped in its tracks, dead before I got up to him. Story about my brother...

I had a chance once to buy a BLR in 257 Roberts, didn't need it at the time, regret that.
Going antelope hunting in a week or so, would have been the gun of choice.

I had a paddle holster custom made for my Gary Reeder custom 32 H&R Vaquero.
Fits like a glove, works great, have been wearing it around and guess what?? Even without a belt, not once did my pants or shorts fall to my ankles. Love it. Will work great this fall and winter.

quick google search, found several loads, different bullets, mostly using 3031, 4895 powders.
Surprised to see them so wimpy. velocities with 245-260 bullets were 15-1700 fps.
I would think you could get better velocity than that.

The 32 H&R, Ruger Vaquero 2.5" barrel that I had Gary Reeder do for me does not have ejector rod/housing. Just tip gun up and the fall out mostly, If one gets stuck I have been able to easily get it out with my finger nails. Have not had any problems yet.

I think mine is a copper clad. Use silver maple a lot, easy to split, easy to start, quick to burn, so don't have long lasting embers or over heat. If winter and cold, can burn ash or oak or whatever. (box elder about same as silver maple too)

Corn cobs good to start fire with that is for sure.

I shoot gamebore occasionally through one of my short chambered shotguns. THey work just fine (at least in 16ga)
I have had no issue with them and have killed a number of pheasants and prairie chickens with them.
