Otteray, did you let the barrel cool after each shot? If your barrel heats up your group will open up. Yep; about a minute between each shot. What Leverluver said. You especially have to take an adequate sampling. You may find that if you shot five 5-shot groups at each loading, they may all average out to the same group size per load. A two inch average group size isn't anything to sneeze at... Fouling? The barrel had been cleaned before firing. I fired one fouling shot before the actual chronographing. I got my "WWII GI in 2005 or 06 . It fires and ejects everything, including reloads that my Firestar would not digest 10 years ago. Even with the Springfield 10 round mag, it works fine. I love the GI model. I did put some "liquid white out" on the tiny sights. Helped a bunch! I smoot...

That screw is called the "Stock Reinforcement Screw."


Must be 'cause the stock needs reinforcement there? It is pretty narrow at that point.
Maybe my Marlin 1892 .32 Colt coulda used one. It was wrapped with wire and had 2 nails there when I first got it!

I know it's not a levergun, but I tried to log into the Marlinowners (Rimfire forum) to ask, and couldn't log on! So, why is the wood screw right behind the trigger and receiver even there at all? It just goes into the wood only, not into the rear of the receiver or anything else. Anybody got a clue...
