I'm sure glad my dad left me his, made in 1906.
He found it in the Mohave Desert, sometime in the early 40's before WWII.

Otteray, did you let the barrel cool after each shot? If your barrel heats up your group will open up. Yep; about a minute between each shot. I will make a bunch more loads, and try them out using 46, 47 and 48 grains using KirkD's method. Next weekend, I guess, since it's supposed to rain for the ...

What Leverluver said. You especially have to take an adequate sampling. You may find that if you shot five 5-shot groups at each loading, they may all average out to the same group size per load. In other words, you are seeing variations about a mean for that load range. Harmonics can also play a p...

Hobie,
Forget about the stars!
Maybe when you give out such dire proclamations, you should play music like this:

Bach; Fugue in D minor for those of you using dial up

A two inch average group size isn't anything to sneeze at... Fouling? The barrel had been cleaned before firing. I fired one fouling shot before the actual chronographing. But my point is, why such a differerence of group size with similar velocities, when using one grain more of powder? By the 3rd...

I loaned out a 11-48 16 ga to a friend - of a friend... Came back after I reminded my friend (bro-in-law) that it was overdue. Rusted! I cleaned it up, but it will forever be lightly speckled. :x and thankfully, still shoots good. He asked again, the following year, and I said forget it. I won't loa...

OT - Marlin Model 60 question
I know it's not a levergun, but I tried to log into the Marlinowners (Rimfire forum) to ask, and couldn't log on! So, why is the wood screw right behind the trigger and receiver even there at all? It just goes into the wood only, not into the rear of the receiver or anything else. Anybody got a clue...

I know, I know! Not a lever action, but I do own many leverguns, including a Model 39, so it's cool 8) ... I also posted this at http://www.marlinowners.com/ , but no response yet. Re: OT - (Virginia School Campus)Gun bill gets shot down
In June, Tech's governing board approved a violence prevention policy reiterating its ban on students or employees carrying guns and prohibiting visitors from bringing them into campus facilities . Well now, that sure didn't work so well. My heart and prayers go out to the wounded and dead student'...

Calif. Lead Ban (AB 821) passed Water Parks and Wildlife
Now it goes to appropriations committee. Bad news, and coming to your neighborhood, soon! This is a Bradyite back door tactic that appears to be working, just as their gun bans in the past did. The lead impact on condors is a feel good thing, too; with the study appearing to be very biased against l...

I'm curious, how did your friend decide on Laurel? Another point not mentioned, besides the refinery, and lack of mountains, is it is on the interstate highway, (meaning lots of traffic and out-of-towners coming thru) and shares some overflow of Billings' crime. Hmm, good question. He sold his plac...

A good friend retired and is moving to Spring Creek Rd., Laurel Mt . Sold his home here in the Central Kalifornia Coast and figured his gun rights would be safer there, at least that's one reason why he moved. He can't stand the political scene here on the liberal coast, either. I almost gave him on...
