I reckon a feller could shoot your own horse between the ears. I tried Unique when I started working up some cast loads but it did not work well for my rifle, had good luck with 2400 and the 85gr XTP.

Great report on a really great hunt with real rifles. We passed through Riverton a couple of times in August when we went to Cody and Yellowstone. It all looks like good country to me. Enjoy the good eating.

I have had my Colt SAA.45 5 1/2 inch since 1959 and still think it's the best sixgunthat I have ever owned or shot. Just keep buning lots of powder in it, you'll enjoy it more all the time.

Kirk, that is a good looking sixgun.Reckon that will be your back country carry gun now. can you carry six or do you have to carry five like my Colt? Enjoy the "work" getting up a good load. A 250gr slug at 800fps. should do for your cats and other needs.

Hey Griff, reckon how would a full buckhorn sight work for CAS shooting?I put one on my grandson's 94 30-30 and he really likes it. If retire my old Winchester 92 32-20, I think I'll try a full buckhorn on a new rifle.

Kirk that rifle is a real beauty,a long slender Winchester rifle is a fine thing.It looks like your groups are shrinking down to minute of deer.
I am working with 5744 and cast with the 32-20.It does show some promise.I think it will work for CAS shooting.

jnyork and Saloonslug,my oldest daughter and her husband, a retired marine live in Yuma,she has been there about 25 years and is a levergun shooter.She has a Hartford 92 .45 and a .45 sixgun too.They do alot of shooting and hunting around there.

foureyedfloyd,today I loaded some .45's with 6.1gr of Unique with 255gr cast and some .38s with 4.2gr Unique and 158gr cast.We will try these and see how they do.Grandson is shooting Ruger NV and Marlin .357
carbine. Now I have to load some more 32-20's for my old 92.

I have to agree with Griff and the others,if you can get a C-O-L-T GET IT.I bought mine in 1959. I shot my first CAS match yesterday with it and could not tell any difference than when I bought it and it laid in the Everglades for three months, but thats another tale.

The first leveraction that I shot was a 1894 Winchester 30-30, my first deer. The first one I bought was an 1892 Winchester 32-20, I have owned alot of Winchesters and did not shoot a Marlin until about 20 years ago.I am just partial to the Winchesters. Just have a feel to them in my hands.
