Reloads and misfires are due to the occasional deep primer pocket. Most every used gun I buy will be taken apart, cleaned and reassembled. You'd be surprised how much crud collects in the firing pin channel.

Ed, Are you shooting reloads? If the sizing or seating isn't just right your bolt may not close without a little extra force. Disassembly is very easy. I'd try it before taking it to a smith. Did the gun just start doing this of late? Ammo brand? New bullet? Will it close without a round inthe chamb...

I have used Ruger Blackhawks in 44 and 45 to take TX whitetails. Either will work fine. I am surprised that the Bisley was not mentioned. I prefer it over the BH and SBH gripframes. As JimT said, bigbores are more forgiving and choose the model you shoot best.

Way back when, I checked a box of factgory Remington 405s. The case is crimped at the shoulder of the bullet. I tried to crimp in the cannelure but it would not cycle in my 1895G.

Depending on the distance left or right, one could file the inside of the rear sight. This allows the front sight to line up to the center of a wider rear sight. Remember whether you file the front or the rear, a little goes a long way!

Heck, we shoot beef cattle with a .22. Shot placement is paramount. The 357 should be fine provided we all understand its limitations. I plan to use my 357 for Texas whitetails.

I saw the same pricing at Walmart but only a few stores carry the Federal Blue Box. I was also suprised to find the same pricing $10-12-14 for Federals in 30-30, 270, .30-'06 and others at the new Cabelas in Gonzales Louisiana. If I didn't reload, I'd be all over them prices.

I had one as my first shotgun, about '74. Parts are limited for repairs. As I remember the gun was heavy and forearm loose. I did replace the extractor on at least one occasion. I sold mine and bought an 870.

I have Marlin catalogs that do not represent a 26" barrel 336 CB. I have never seen one. I own 2 in 30-30, 1-45 Colt and 1-357. All are 24"ers. The only 26" CB I have seen and owned is the 1895CB in 45-70. Marlin wil convert to the CB configuration provided parts are on hand. Papalote

I put in an large order for bullets this morning at Wideners. You guys may check there as they seem to be a little cheaper than Midway on many things. I also noticed that a box of shotgun shells at Walmart yesterday had gone from 3.97 to 5.48!!
