That is strange! New brass should easily expand to fit without splitting. I would separate the brass for that rifle and size it as little as possible. Don't touch the shoulder unless you have to and only size enough of the neck to hold the bullet. Maybe you already do that. If not, it might help.

The bulge is normal and the pushed out primers are too. The splits may just be from a hard lot of brass. Is it only the Winchester that split by any chance?

Joe, the cases don't really change enough to see. It just looks like a 30-06. I wanted to fire them before I trimmed them because the necks looked a little off center after I expanded them. They should be nice and concentric now and the necks will come out even when I trim them. What you want to see...

Are you sure it is your shoulder that is taking a beating? The Marlins whack my cheek bone harder than the Winchesters. That will make you flinch! I put a receiver sight on my Marlin 336A which raised the sight line a little and I don't notice it now.

You will find a lube star on the muzzle. If the bullet carries enough lube to reach the muzzle it will be deposited on the muzzle in a star like pattern around the bore.

$85.00 is a steal! I wouldn't mind having a shotgun butt stock on my 1895. It only has about a 13" LOP with the crescent butt. I don't understand that because my 1873 is longer.

The staff on mine is about an inch taller than it needs to be. It is a Pedersoli sight that I paid $72.00 for in a Cabela's bargain cave. Wasn't going to argue about staff height! I just grabbed my wallet and payed before they had a chance to change their mind! The precise adjustments are sure nice....

Over exertion didn't do it. I didn't feel right when I was unloading the truck and I had only gone about a 1/2 mile mostly downhill when I crashed. I had a heart attack 6 years ago and there was no "reason" for that either. My cholesterol has never been over 200 and is now less. I exercise...

That is an excellent load. I could only get about 2650 fps with 180's in my 30-06 using 4350 or 4831. It is accurate but slow.

Sixgun, It is a 30US. 30-40 to the uninitiated. I have shot it to 500 meters just dinking around on the silhouette range. The RCBS-30-180-FN shoots good in it. Round nose jacketed bullets also group well. I am waiting on a Lyman 311284 copy and then I am going to shoot 500 meter silhouette with it. ...

Now I am depressed! I missed a big buck out there two years ago in a certain canyon. Nobody hunted there last year due to road closures because of the fires. I just got a call that my friend killed a 4x3 in that canyon this morning. I was going to go get that buck myself.
