Thanks for the link. It was very timely too. I have been writing down a lot of the lyman mold numbers from my #30 ideal handbook, and at first thought all my work was for nothing. Instead, your link added a lot of moulds to my list, but as 6pt-sika alluded too, there are a lot left off too.

According to R. Renneberg in "Winchester model 94 the first 100 years", the phenolic buttplate replaced the steel buttplate in what he calls the variation 3, type 2 Model 94, which was produced starting with serial 3,400,000 . Serial number 3,400,000 is a 1971 vintage Model 94.

What does your bore slug out to? Also does it slug bigger tal the breech or the muzzle? Some of the Chapparral guns had quite large bores. Lino is ok for plinking but you will want a way softer bullet for hunting, yo may have to size at 460 or better. My lands are 0.449", the grooves are 0.456...

Re: Apologies to Shakespeare: to reline or not to reline
Claybob, I am guessing it will cut the value nearly in half. Maybe worth 1200- 1300 now (the outside is tha nice), if I reline it (which btw the liner and glue adds up to about 140$), drops the value to a PITA to sell and I would probably only get a high offer at a gun show of $700-800.
